March 13, 2023 marks the second anniversary of WRTN Media. And all I have to say is this: damn. I'll be 100% honest, I had no idea how far this idea, this site, would truly go when it was established in 2021. Initially, all I wanted this to be was a place for my work (and my work only) to be displayed so that my family could see what I had been up to. But, if you look at WRTN today, you would see something totally different. Not only do we host over 100 unique and incredible pieces, but they are from a wide range of authors, not just myself. That itself blows my mind every day, realizing that WRTN has gone further and further than I ever thought possible.
Two years is no number to laugh at, especially for me, who is notorious for burning out and quitting at the first sign of failure. But WRTN is different; what we do here is different. Unlike almost any venture I have ever made in the past, this website has other people relying on it, has other people's investment, and that encourages me to do it more than anything else. And, I mean, look at the amazing things that have come of it. Incredible authors like Joanne Parsons, Connie Burgess, and more have joined our pages; The Asteroid Saga, the largest project in this site's history, has launched and allowed me to finally show my love for storytelling; remarkable articles, reviews, essays, narratives, poems, and more have collected on our News, Essays, and Stories pages; there is simply so much to celebrate!
But what is to come in the future; what's in store for WRTN? That's hard to say, to be honest. All that I do know is that it will continue as long as my heart (and the heart of the people) is in it, because the only way this will live is if love is put into it. And with projects like Before The Bombs and The Asteroid Saga coming out in droves, the quality, care, and precision in each increasing with every rendition, the time ahead is truly exciting.
Now, let me get on a more personal level here. If you hadn't noticed, more and more content, specifically on the article side of things, have gotten increasingly personal in the past year. With the start of the on WRTN series back in October, it has become clear that I as a founder want to have a more direct connection with you, the reader, and I understand that many disliked (and loved) that concept. But just know that, yes, there will be personalish things on here, but at the end of the day, everything on here is subjective, whether you and I like it or not. You can't separate the art from the artist, especially here on WRTN. So, to those who don't like what I am literally doing right now as you are reading this, I am sorry. Just know that I do it out of care, even though 99% of them are advertisements.
Okay, here's the last thing I've got to say on this special day: thank you. I don't care who you are, thanks for reading this. Seriously. And if, somehow, you have been here since launch day, then double thank you. You have no idea what it means to me; what it means to all the people who have ever contributed to this site. You are allowing WRTN to become more than just me, more than what even my aspirations are, and that is something mesmerizing to watch. As I've said before, my vision for this site is one without me, where my limited vision does not hold it back. And I think we are closer to that than ever before. That's wild. Anyways, I guess that wraps this article up. All I can really say is to have a Happy WRTN Day, but that means nothing to anyone besides myself, so IDK. Have a good day, I guess? Sure. Have a good day (by reading more content on WRTN)!
