Will you ever… smile?
Are all your emotions numb?Do your words sound like they're dumb?Must all your thoughts end with a shun? When you look at yourself, do you feel that stun?Have all your habits influenced what you’ve done?Should your happiest days go unsung?Would your time be better spent as none? How does it feel to hold that gun?Where did those scars come from? And why are you only eating a crumb?“I am not more than my sum!”You say, as if you’ve actually won,When really, all you’ve done is hide from the Sun,Fearing that you’ll be the death of their fun.“You’re not just the shadow you have become,”They say, knowing you’ve carried a ton."Please, come listen to the birds as they hum.”And you do. Then you run.Run until the green has begun. Not home. Home. And stand there with no one.Just you. Rest the lung.Sit with your heart as it beats like a drum. And scream like there's not a world to be spun.
There... time stops. Your face is painted a hue only for you. Smile!
